Dear Animal Lover,
     You are receiving this letter as a valued member of our community. Every year the Fairfield Area Humane Society depends on our annual Membership Drive to provide the operational funds needed to care for hundreds of homeless, abused and injured animals. As a non-profit organization, which does not receive your tax dollars, the Humane Society can only continue its mission with donations and memberships from caring people like you. Membership support has always been the key to continuing our mission over the last 30 years and now it is more important than ever. I want to thank those of you who became 2012 Members as we had our largest response ever. With that said this year’s Membership Drive is even more important as we continue to move forward during these trying times. In 2011 our shelter took in 446 animals, and so far this year we have taken in almost 400, to put us on pace for a 15% increase.
     The Humane Society continues to experience a growing need for our services throughout FairfieldCounty. Our commitment to those needs has led us to consider plans for expansion of our facilities. The first phase has begun with the construction of our dog park. This park will increase traffic to our shelter, helping to boost adoption, and give us a more visible presence in the community. The dog park investment has not and will not take away from the care of our animals, but enhance it. Your membership is not spent on these expansion projects, so please feel comfort in knowing that your support directly affects all of the homeless and injured animals we care for. Our organization is currently operating with an $18,000 deficit for 2012 and we are hoping to increase our membership to bring us back to even for the year, and start 2013 on a positive note. With last years Membership Drive reaching nearly $50,000, our goal for this year is $100,000. I know that doubling our Member support is a lofty goal, but I have faith in our community and I know that you have faith in us. Please help us reach that goal this year by becoming a 2013 Member of the Fairfield Area Humane Society and asking others to join you in supporting our cause.

Your Membership Donation supports:

• A safe and secure shelter for all of our animals.
• A Humane Officer who rescues injured or abused animals.
• A spay/neuter practice for all canines and felines under our care.
• A dog and cat adoption service to place them in their forever homes.
• A means to meet ever-increasing costs of food, water, medical care and utilities.

    All donations are tax deductible as the Fairfield Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and does not receive monetary support from national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA. Your membership will go a long way in helping us care for our ever increasing number of animals until we find them their forever homes.
