As many of you may already know through
watching the news or reading the paper; our
shelter has recently had nearly 60 cats
dumped in our back shed all in the same
night! We are used to people dropping off
animals; in fact most of the animals in our
shelter were dumped. What makes this
situation a crisis is that our shelter was
already busting at the seams with animals to
begin with. Our facility can only house 13
adult cats ideally as we have 13 main
population cages. However we rarely ever
house less than 50 because there are so many
drop off’s. Cats are always forced to share
cages and there are always wire cages
stacked up on the floor. When these new
arrival’s were dumped; we did not have room
for even one more… let alone 60!
To make matters worse, ALL of these cats arrived
emaciated, dehydrated, and suffering from
upper respiratory infections. Sick animals
require a lot of care and a lot of time. At
this time our shelter only has THREE
employees and only one of them is full-time.
We are DESPERATE for volunteers! We have had
an amazing response from the public; people
wanting to help any way that they can. One
of the best ways to help is to lend a hand!
WE NEED FOSTER HOMES! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
We need help with basic cleaning of the
building, cleaning cages, laundry, dishes,
etc. These basic everyday tasks still have
to be done but we are so busy caring for the
sick and injured there simply is no time.
Even if you do have a busy schedule you can
stop in for ten minutes and wash a few
dishes, or toss a load of towels into the
washer: every little bit matters!

We cannot the public enough for all their
generous donations; they are being put to
use! Monetary donations are greatly
appreciated and NEEDED in order to have
these animals vaccinated and spayed or
neutered. Other items we can really use
right now are:
-
Kitty Litter!
-
Cat Food!
-
Newspapers
-
Cleaning supplies (paper towels,
disinfectant, etc.)
-
Blankets and towels
-
Bowls and dishes (Styrofoam or stainless
steel)

For those of you who would like to help us
with the most important part of all… ADOPT!
Open your heart and home to a new pet and
give the greatest contribution of all. Above
anything and everything else you can donate
combined; these cats need a home more than
anything. If you cannot adopt a cat then
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us find homes that
can! We are a no-kill shelter; and we have
never been forced to have healthy, adoptable
animals euthanized. However this is an
exceptional situation, and we cannot justify
keeping these animals crammed in tiny cages,
practically stacked on top of one another,
in a shed behind the shelter. It is not fair
to these cats; they have survived enough.
They do not deserve to be forced to live in
the conditions they are currently in. We are
providing them with the best we have, and
the best we can do… but we can only do so
much. We are desperate for your help and
these animals are desperate for another
chance. If people don’t start adopting… this
could very well be the last stop for many of
these cats. Please… open your hearts… open
your homes. The love and gratitude you will
receive from your pet will reassure you each
and every day that you made the right
decision.

Bless each and every one of you for all that
you have done.
